Getting desperate. Alarm issues return...

Hi all.
I'm hoping someone can give me an idea what to look for.
I've been prepping my D3 to sell and an alarm issue I was sure was fixed had returned. Its triggering randomly where 1 press or 2 press on the lock button.
So replaced the bonnet catch (now shorted as per other posts just in case), battery & door latch. Fault codes were showing the door lock which was why that was replaced. Low voltage was showing hence the new battery.
It behaved for weeks, then returned in the last couple of days. I've cleaned inside and its empty so don't think there us a moth or similar causing it.
At the moment its stopping me advertising it as who wants a car which alarms randomly.
If anyone can offer any thoughts I'd be hugely grateful!!! Its a damn good car with a silly fault and its driving me mad!!
Thanks
Ben

what fault codes are you getting? now

if you don't have a reader, another idea.....

ensure the interior lights are enabled to come on when doors are opened.
drive along a bumpy road at dusk and see if the interior light flashes on. (have passenger to watch it)
quickly look at the dash board to see what door is stated to be open.

check the likely messages before hand, or have a phone camera record the dash board on the journey.

e.g passenger rear .....
tailgate

You might have a slowly dying alternator which isn't charging your battery properly and when it gets too low, your alarm starts playing up.
This appears to be confirmed by you replacing the battery and everything was ok for a while, until the power eventually dropped again and all your symptoms returned.

I'd fully charge that battery with a CTek and see if your symptoms miraculously disappear again. Wink

Thank you for the quick replies.
As I seem to have exhausted all of the regular faults I'm willing to try anything.
For some unknown reason. Since I posted this message it's not gone off once. It seems yo be time of day dependent, as it behaved yesterday day time, and went off in the evening. If similar happens today, that may be a clue also.
Will let you know if I have any developments/answers.

A faulty battery in the siren will also trigger it, i have read on here somewhere that you can disconnect the siren and the alarm will start using the horn instead.

Thanks for this idea. Another thing to Google.
This forum is such a great place. I would have struggled so much without it!

Censored
I thought the alarm sounder sounded like a great idea....but no. Alarm triggered again, but this time 10x louder and at 7:30am Whistle Whistle
Time to check the battery and alternator. I don't think it's that as a mechanic friend did some test readings a few weeks back and said the alternator appeared ok...

Tailgate?????
Nope, not me, but now you mention it, it's been not shutting correctly for quite a while. Just not grabbing like it should.
If it's that I'll be a very happy man!!

Well, after no joys I went to see a friend who works the LR dealer today to see if they could shed any light.
Plugged into into their computers and the alarm trigger showed 'inclination alarm' and 'intrusion detected'. I can't seem to add the photo of the screen.

UK spec D3 do not have tilt sensors on the alarms, so the assumption was it was the internal sensor with was disabled. This was not it, as again this evening the alarm triggered.

I don't believe it is the alternator as it did not stop when I fitted a new battery (the wife remember that fact).
It seems to be with outside temperature. At the moment it seems to be in the evening, or as the sun hits it in the morning. Can anyone think of a link??
It's near on worthless at the moment with this issue. Can't sell a car which alarms all the time!

Unplug the ultrasonics sensor in the middle of the roof and see if that sorts it.

Would that be part of the drop down DVD module?? I'll get the book out and check in a bit. Just swapping all LED internal bulbs back to old style on another suggestion.

It's on charge now. I don't believe it's that, but I need to try everything!!

Can anyone say where the ultrasonic sensor is, when there is a DVD module fitted?? Can find this info.
Cheers all!
