Brake pad warning
Hi all!
I'm to do MOT on wednesday and received warning:"Brake pards worn" on display.
Checked the front pads and they had 30% remaining on them but exchanged anyway since I had new pads.
Warning is not gone and can't find anyway on my GAP tool to take it away.
Do I need to shortcut the cables to the pads(which has never been connected to the pads)
Thankful for any ideas?
Best regards/Johnny

You should have fitted a new sensor cable to the near side brake pad.
There is not a facility to delete the fault on the Iid tool, it will go off automatically when you fit new cable.
If the two wires are bared on the sensor cable and twisted together the fault light will go out as a temporary measure, but it must not be visible to the MOT tester It can when others can't,

Ok, but now I don't have such cable and to get one before wednesday from UK is impossible.

If the sensor has never been fitted to the front pads, then it is unlikely that that is the cause of your brake pad warning. What about the rear pads? The warning will not go away until the offending worn sensor (and pads if necessary) are replaced, or the wires shorted out, if that's the way you want to go with it.D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. D4 s are heavy on rear brakes, the rear sensor is on the off side(right side looking from the rear).
Hope you’ve got some rear pads in your store It can when others can't,

Nothing to add but having just come in from scratching my head again wondering why my brake pad light has gone from intermittent to off and now always on. I am baffled as I cannot isolate an issue with what is a very simple circuit.
More tea drinking required before I go around the wiring, again.

Robbie look for a chafe in the wire along its length especially at the front.

My thoughts too but have failed to find anything. I have just turned some old sensors into test leads so I can be a bit more systematic with my testing.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I had similar strange faults with my rear lights/brake lights on another car years ago. Turned out to be a dirty bulb holder/terminals. It caused strange combinations of lights. Might simply be worth taking bulbs out and cleaning up the connections and inside the bulb holders.
I realise there's nothing I can teach anyone on this subject, but just sharing my experience.
CheersGary

Well, this forum is great and thanks all out there.
I learn more for every issue.
So there are sensors also for rear pads?
I changed the rear pads in october and has maybe driven 1500km since then...only thing now is to go to MOT and

Out of the 8 pads only 2 have wear sensors clipped in. One front left and one rear right, all wired in series and referenced to ground. A break or high resistance anywhere in the circuit triggers the light / IPC warning text.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
