LOSS OF POWER AND STEERING |
|
Hi
I'm a new user and ld3 owner so excuse me if i ramble a bit!
Recently i have experienced loss of power when accelerating away, with no change when moving through the gears, then it will suddenly have full power. Also twice i have lost power and had no steering when going around a bend, engine still running but unable to steer, (dangerous) when stopped car and re selected 1st gear it moved away fine.
Anyone else had this or has any ideas what could be causing it.

Sounds nasty.
Not sure why you had no steering a this is mechanical with power assist. Lack of engine power would not cause no steering at all, just be very heavy.
Best visit the dealer right away as it could be a number of things causing this.

I recently had trouble with loss of power, though mainly just on starting. This was explained as problems with the ERG valves (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). Seemingly they can stick when they get gunged up. My car had done about 50000 miles. The details are in the thread TDV6 Glow Plugs http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic16749.html .
I had no problems with steering.

I took my L3 into the garage as this problem was getting progrssivly worse, it turned out to be the ERG valve, they are repairing it FOC, as a good will geture as i only brought the car 2 months ago and this isn't the first time it;s been back to them.
So hopefully that will sort out the problem.
