Yet another insurance rant |
|
Motorbike company, had similar a few times now.
Eight months into my policy and the insurance broker goes "oh, sorry sir the underwriter, Zenith, won't let you change vehicle part-way through the year but what we can do is start a new policy, with Zenith, charge you £25 to cancel the current policy as well and that new policy will cost you only £195". Don't recall that clause in the policy but guess it will be buried somewhere for them to say that
As soon as I was put on hold I knew it was another one of these 'no change' or, as historically, "oooh they don't like that new 'bike you want to buy".
So whilst waiting I get online quote for £95 to start new policy with, can you guess the underwriter; Zenith, but via different broker - Hastings rather than MC Direct. Given the quote you can probably guess it's not some ridiculous exotica (It's a Ducati Scrambler) or that I'm 17 with three accidents and 9 points on my licence
Ends up (again) with cancelled at nil cost either way and I start a new policy again.
Don't you just love them.......

The downside to doing that I guess is that they dont count that as a full year towards the NCB - as it was cancelled mid term... another way of holding back your NCB to increase a premium next time round... Bu88ers!

Had exactly the same with Adrian Flux, stop one, start another. Got charged £30 to stop one policy and got had over a barrel to start the next. Because they knew I was collecting my next car the following day, the cheeky feckers tried to triple ( yes, X3 ) my premium.
I am extremely proud to announce I am no longer an Adrian Flux customer who sought fit to take the pi ss and put an end to a customer/ client relationship that had lasted 16 years.
I now wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. Mods:

Loss of NCB makes no odds to me TBH as still got nine years and, as you can see by premiums, not going to lose my house over it
I really do think it’s another ‘scam’ of the industry as it’s third time in about 4-5 years I’ve had this “oh dear sir” cr@p, once was stepping down from an 187bhp, £12k, hyper-sports ‘bike to a soft, 50bhp ‘commuter’ type ‘bike......

I know it’s not a Land Rover but maybe worth calling A Plan, found their service excellent, even though I sadly no longer have a Disco, but has arranged insurance for its replacement, my two motorbikes and my wife’s car.

A-Plan quoted me £200 less than Adrian Flux’s renewal, which they were then mysteriously able to match. Not impressed.

Adrian Flux pestered me to tell them how much I'd been quoted but I refused to tell them knowing what their plan was. Why do they insist on treating you like an idiot?
"You're supposed to tell me how much it costs" said I, "I don't sell insurance, you do and can't compete or wish to rip me off"
The cheeky gits even charged me £30 to become an excustomer and then had the hard faced arrogance to email me justifying the charge. I checked and they can levy a charge for admin even during the 14 day cooling off period so the cheeky feckers do.
TBH, small price to pay to be clear of a company who treats its customers in such a deplorable manner, in fact, I hope someone from AF reads this post but that's doubtful, they clearly couldn't give a toss.
A Plan worked out too pricey for me and I had to chase them after they were supposed to phone me back and didn't. Mods:

I had rang Flux before I rang A-plan when I wanted cover for the Defender, I wanted an agreed valuation policy and rang Flux's asking for a quote, on the phone says "how much are you willing to pay'? I say "as little as possible please" says "I need to know how much you are willing to pay as I'm not going to go away and work out a quote only for you to come back and say that's too expensive" It was at this point I just hung up! I would never recommend anybody to ring them, I've been with A-Plan for 3 years now Cheers Ian
