Done one at the side of the road in less than 3 hours. You'll be fine
You only need one of the belt cover bolts out, the one that screws into the pump
If you take a quarter inch or so, off the crankcase breather legs, you will find it goes back in much easier. Be sure you don't take off too much though, or it won't seal back in the block My D3 Build Thread

Hi Stew 46,
I have potentially got this job to do in the next week or so. Did you end up changing thr HPFP? If so, how did you get on? I am fairly technically minded and have a reasonably kitted out workshop but am nervous when it comes to such an expensive part and the potential to cause even more harm than good! Any advice greatly received
Thanks,
Al

Thread hijacked for "Crankcase Vent Oil Separator" removal.

Sadly the link is dead
How in the devil's name (being really polite ) do you get the separator out of a 3.0 TDV6? Took the two pipes off (the 'big' crank breather and the two manifold scavenger pipes which attach at the t-piece), fuel lines out of the way and even took oil filter carrier off but no amount of 'persuasive' force will let that thing rise up. It rocks front to back and left to right but ggggrrrrrr.
I have a brand new one here (the one fitted is broken) and I'm starting to suspect that the little downpipe (vent) on the underside has two clips on it which catch on the aluminium bracket it passes through?
Short of breaking it apart in situ (obviously a terrible idea) what am I missing?
Stumped (and trying not to break anything else)!!
Thanks in advance. "Track day running - Don't put your foot back on the accelerator until your absolutely sure you don't have to take it off again"
