EPB Maintenance?

Hi.

Is there a routine maintenance document out there for the EPB? I would like to DIY if possible. This hasn't been checked since I got the car 2 years ago and I don't want any nasty surprises.

Thanks

Adri

Been reading Bodsys Brake Bible.

If bedding in new shoes you have to drive and put the hand brake on whilst moving???!!!

That right?

Cheers

Tbh yes and no, I just fitted my new shoes adjusted them and rechecked the adjustment a few weeks later and 3.5 yrs later they are still okay.

I think its one of them things that originally needed to be done, but as time has moved on?

If anyone here has owned a drum braked car they will tell you it takes way way longer than a few brake aplications to bed the shoes in.

All the more reason to bed them in via the Brake Bible instructions, at least they will be partly beaded in.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I think the main reason for bedding them in properly is that in the case if total brake failure the park brake was designed to be able to be used in an emergency to stop the car, I’d rather they were bed in just for this reason alone

If you use it solely for parking , ie stationary, they will never bed in and in emergency, little braking. Its a 3 tonne plus vehicle you will need to stop. It also makes sure the adjustment is maintained properly.

Well if you all believe 10 brake applications will bed the brake shoes in, carry on Whistle

I have spent the last 30 plus years fixing drum brakes on commercial vehicles and can tell you all drum brakes are a royal pita at the best of times and as for bedding them in Censored

How many of you have tried applying the handbrake at slow speed?
