“Rules have been tightened after a taxi driver involved in a fatal crash with a pedestrian in 2008 was fined for having a fluffy dice and two air fresheners hanging in front of his eyes”

It’s taken 11 years

Censored with sat navs or phones mounted slap bang in line of sight above the steering wheel should be more of a priority IMO Rolling Eyes

Needs to be done, something I see a lot in Cornwall is Camper Vans with those bloody stupid hula garlands hanging off the mirror. Thats a huge chunk of view the driver is missing out on and it trains the driver to ignore movement in their peripheral vision.

I have my dashcam tucked up by the mirror and my phone holder (I use Google maps most of the time for my directions) is next to the A-pillar. The phone mount is placed such that the top of it and the phone is about in line with the edge of the bonnet. The result being that it doesn't impinge on my view of the road or offside footpath.

Both of these seems like reasonable locations which don't affect my vision of the road. Having the sat nav (phone screen) higher up has a benefit over the "look down in to the cabin" locations of many screens.

I have seen phone mounts directly in front of the driver so that they must have to move their head to see around it. I'm amazed they don't get a pull for that.

Will I be fined because my HUD projects distracting information such as my speed and the current speed limit into my windscreen field of view. Neutral
