I’ve been without my D4 ... A happy ending 👍
It’s been stuck at the local dealer. It went in for a knock, which and they knew to be front wishbones.
Turns out they think it needs front lower and upper arms both sides, and also rear uppers.
Warranty Direct covers the car, and when I told them what it needs they baulked and called out an engineer to go and investigate. Engineer turned up yesterday apparently, and as yet has not submitted his report to WD.
So that’s now going to be Monday before they get it, then if they authorise the work, it will take 2 days to complete.
So might have it back by Wednesday if I’m lucky.

And what’s it been used for? I had a shock when mine failed it’s mot on front arms, it only had genuine fitted 20k miles ago, it was a false alarm as I questioned it and took it to another testing station and it passed, but you shouldn’t have this situation with a main dealer, if they don’t know if they need changing who does?It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

102k now. It’s doing much less than it used to. Probably 6k per year.

Yes I think WD might be calling the dealers bluff, but it was clunking and knocking like an old railway carriage!

I’ve tried unsuccessfully to get my dealer to support the front uppers being replaced. Looking forward to hearing how the replacement improves your ride.16 D4 Landmark

Yay!!! 😁Happy days!
WD approved all the work, front lower, upper both sides and rear upper.
It’s taken a while, but worth it.

it's all that demanding terrain around Bramhall.

Did WD charge you two excesses? One for each side? They did for me despite me protesting that you would only ever replace in pairs anyway, even if (weirdly) only one side was gone.D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Finally got the car back this evening. £2300 lighter, hopefully WD will refund me £1860 ASAP.
I was charged 4x excesses. (£50 each) plus they wouldn’t pay for the four wheel geo check, which I paid for myself. Also the labour rate is capped at £114 per hour, and GS charge £140. I suppose they could have charged 6 x excess because it had front upper and lower wishbones both sides. So I’m grateful for that.
Anyway, all corners are good, and it drives like a new car.

Its nice to read a warranty story with a decent ending. Usually its the B@#!+rds wont pay out even though you've been a loyal customer for years etc...

I had no idea they charged their excess like that, is it per item or per side?
