Self Isolating Holidays

Two families I know are looking at long term (3-6 months) rental of holiday cottages in remote areas of Scotland and Wales. Some real bargains can be negotiated apparently.

We’re hoping to do the same in Western Aus if we can’t get out. At least the weather is better here and we’ll do our best to support the Margaret River & Pemberton wine regions. Whistle Whistle

I think their rationale was that they’d self isolate in a remote area to specifically avoid getting sick.

Less discount for holiday cottages that have a bidet, apparently. 😆

if you’re thinking patient transport or Ambulance .. Rolling with laughter

My masterplan for Skye was to address the shortage of Ambulances by combining the Ambulance service with Tesco deliveries, who travel daily to Skye from Dingwall and Inverness. TO the islands carrying the groceries and FROM the island with patients needing to go to Raigmore Hospital loaded into the racks that they use for the grocery trays. Those who haven't made it or are in a very serious condition can be put in the freezer compartment for transport back to Inverness.

Efficient and immediately increases ambulance capacity by a huge amount.

By the way, if they are coming here they need to know the local expressions for degrees of unwellness or they won't be able to convey their need properly to the doctor/ambumance dispatch

Weel - managing OK.

No affy weel - normal degree of mild illness

Affy no weel - at death's door

gubbed - shortly to expire despite any medical help

Thumbs Up

Problem with that is if people start isolating themselves in remote areas, they will no doubt import the virus and overwhelm the scant resources in that area.

Can’t see that going down well with the people that have to live there and have no choice.

Looks as if one family may be off to a very remote Highland cottage for the next fortnight. Taking all food and supplies with them.

By the sound of it I doubt the locals will even know that they’re there.

ETA-Known of them currently showing any CV symptoms

Local-ish holiday cottage operator looked to do this (put up a dedicated website and everything) offering food deliveries by people in appropriate PPE, at £100pppn + food...min booking 1 month.

Went down so well locally that he pulled it within 24 hrs, by which point "The National" had run a story on it.

There's deffo CV19 in Drumnadrochit and quite possibly in Kyle area already.

A bit like Knoydart.

I took my D3 there on a landing craft. Only read about a year later that you're not supposed to take your own vehicles on to the peninsula.

He knows the owner and the next fortnight was cancelled, so he's getting it half price if they do definitely decide to go.

We are starting to see the winnebago crew rocking up at usually closed sites to stay out the storm away from the big smokes.

Its putting a strain on pasty production.

Good news Rattler production is in full flow.

Boom.
