How do electric seats move

As per title really. How do electric seats move back and forwards? Is it a single motor, or a pair ?

I ask because my new HSE has an issue. When moving the drivers seat forward, the left side moves, but the right side appears not to, so the seat 'skews' before the motor stalls. It's almost as if the right hand runner is siezed.
As the seat is currently in the right general position, and I only bought her yesterday, I want to do some driving before taking her apart. But I'd like to know what I can expect to find when I do take the leap.

I suspect a mechanical cable between the sides has broken.
Not sure though

Remove the seat base 4 x torx screws underneath, this will give you a better view

Does anyone know do I need to disconnect the battery prior to removing seats please? (I'm thinking SRS)

I suspect, having just seen another article on the forum that the right side drive cable may have become disconnected somehow.

Day 1 of D3 ownership - and already I have a job list starting Laughing

You could do once all bolts out.

No need to, if you can’t move the seat by any means you can do it with a struggle, raise the seat to maximum and maximum rear (if possible in your case), pull the front plastic shield off, pull hard towards the peddles, remove the two torque screws from the front, one each side, be doubly sure you have the correct size bit in your 1/4” drive ratchet as the screws are tight and very soft metal, if you round them off you will be in trouble.
Move the seat (if possible) max height and forward, the rear two are easily Whistle accessed from the rear passenger footwell.
Lift the seat squab up with care and take a photo so you know where the cables run. The seats can be isolated if needed by undoing one 6mm hex head screw and pulling the main power feed plug under the seat at the front.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks guys for your input.
Finally gotten around to looking at this. If I disconnect the longer flexi shaft, the seat still moves a little. then jams - so defintiely an issue with the track jamming somehow on the shorter flexi side.
I have managed to buy a brand new track with motor, for £5 less than breakers wanted!! I can now see what I need to get to in order to replace.
Just waiting for a dry and hopefully warmer day to pull it all apart.
