At the risk of showing my ignorance of such things, why did he sort out the sliding surfaces and then protect them for sand cleaning? Why not sand clean the whole and then work those surfaces? Does the sand damage that type of surface?
Otherwise, nice looking job. I bet the thing is worth more after the restoration than it was when new - the number of hours put in to sorting it out must have been fairly high. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
