Driver with 51 points stopped and reported by police. Car seized.

So he's got all these points and is banned and still driving. So what's the point of the system if he can just keep driving? A stay in jail is required, not a ban and points.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

No driving licence then surely that means any motor insurance in place is invalid?
Jail does seem more appropriate than a fine and points.
Cars should be seized and either scrapped or sold off with any profits going towards a charity for say road accident victims/driver training.

Seize and sell the car and use the money towards the cost of their stay in prison. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Ive said this before about society, it cant really threaten thiose that have nowt as quite literally they have nothing to lose and everyhting to gain.
Even if you have nothing surely taking your liberty away must still be a deterant ?The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

Lock him up and sell his car to pay for his digs at her magisties pleasure, if he gets caught again while still banned it’s an instant 10 year prison sentence with no early release for good behaviour, these people need to realise there is a consequence if you break the law!General Grabber AT3's

Its a nice idea but we dont have the capacity for real criminals never mind idiots like these and they know it hence the way they just carry on regardless.
Also worth bearing in mind as it is we are most likely paying for his lifestyle as it is, house etc

Ten thousand hours of community service, to be done over two years - that should keep him well occupied.
Now what would be the best community service for him to perform?
Digging out the a few fat burgers?
Clearing up the at the local sewage works (supply own PPE)?
Hand washing the laundry at a local "care for the elderly" home?
(Or a combination of the above?)Rob Smith

All would require supervision and PPE otherwise he would sue and win, all would cost quite considerable sums of money.
The thing is if you stick him in prison we are paying for it as we are probably paying for his current life outside, if we put him in prison and then when released refuse to pay or provide for anything he will do the only thing that he knows to survive which is rob.
Sometimes we have to accept some people are just a waste of a human body which is sad as theres many a disabled person who would quite happily make good use of it if the tech was there.
You may have hit on an idea there, sort of a body tariff depending on what he has done. Minor offence Give blood (2 or 3 pints at a time ) More serious - loss of limbs,Liver, kidneys maybe remove a lung (easier to catch when running ) It needs a little work but i think we could get it straightened out The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

High time all those convicted and doing jail time have their assets confiscated to defray the costs of their incarceration.

It’s even more worrying as he appears to live in the same city as me We do have a local prison but unfortunately having visited it prior to opening I don’t think it would be a deterrent (it has all the bells and whistles ). If he was to locked up he would receive priority dental and medical care receive taxi transport to hospital and probably learn more while he was in prison and as it costs on average £40,000 per year to keep him there its not an economic option. Until he kills someone. We recently had three innocents killed by an allegedly drunk/drugged person driving the wrong way down a slip road onto a dual carriageway leaving orphaned children.
We need to have a deterrent for these people and methinks hard labour could be an option with an amendment to the law once we are out of Europe so they will be unable to contest the sentence.
What’s the Sharia law take on this
