2012 D4 XS

Hi All
Just got a D4 2012 XS 45k on clock, this week.
Factory fitted Privacy glass and side steps.
Not long to own i admit, and my last car was a 57 D3 SE of 6 years.

I could have had a 14 plate HSE for 5k more at 66k mileage.
My way of thinking was, i only do 6k or so a year, mostly towing a caravan, and tractor to local shows.
Also this as never towed a thing yet..
So a low mileage D4 12 plate, seemed fine.
I have just turned 59, so looking to last me 10 year, and
who is to say, i will be still driving at 69 lol.
Also i could afford this without going into any debt.

Big change in driving, much more better mpg and smother ride.
Overall a great car.
Is it me, or does the D4 seem smaller than driving a D3.

Shame on LR for the below.
No Electric seats, but once set hey hoo who needs them.
No Arm rests, get a grip LR.
No front LED lights, and front signature lights. Again get a grip LR.

Same old complaints about LR I am afraid.
You look at the MY 2012 Spec and some is missing, must be typical LR as normal.

Thumbs Up
 Regards
Ray

The missing bits are because you have an XS, I think most were options.. I think they are all standard on a HSE. You could retrofit the lights I believe if you wanted to, and same with seats etc

Yeah but look and listen not to say drive with that fantastic upgraded engine* with an extra turbo and the sound, I prefer to listen to the engine rather than the radio, you will not know you’ve got a trailer and tractor on the back. As time goes on you may find one or two other little items they have left off, enjoy.

* providing heaven forbid the crank doesn’t decide to part company. Whistle

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for that, and i am enjoying it.
Maybe it is because it is not a 3 and it is a 4 with a hell of lot of changes you would not expect.
You drive a 3 for all those years, i suppose you in some way expect the 4 to be the same, but in truth it is a complete new car.

I can except the changes as i get used to it more, and will enjoy it, esp my ploughing matches lol
Thumbs Up
 Regards
Ray

Hi Ray, thinking of doing the same myself. My D3 is HSE 05 plate and the D4 an 11 plate GS but can't believe how different they are.

I found the opposite, I found the D4 felt a bit bigger, well wider, than the D3, even when I had one of each on the drive. Found this especially in narrow(ish) 2 lane roads, I knew exactly where I as in the D3 but not the D4.

Re mpg, I found absolutely no difference in real world mpg on like for like trips. On a 6,000 mile North Cape Road Trip they would be the same to within 0.1 mpg. Same on 1,100 round trips within UK. Don’t believe the lie-o-meter. Thumbs Up
