EGR’S welded for MOT
I had an issue with my EGR blanks leaking and thought it’s a waste of time messing with them as due to the fairly recent change in mot regs regarding tampering/ changing anything to do with emission I’ve welded the the part where the blanks were and thought I’d share
That was the condition they were in
one I’d cleaned them up
I then squeeze the ends in a vice and used a planishing hammer
I trimmed them with a grinder and cutting wheel straight instead of welding round the radius
I cleaned the throttle body completely with all components removed with degreaser then a bowl of washing up powder then rinsed in clear water and left to dry
I brought a throttle body so I didn’t have to rush things it cam with a map sensor what didn’t look to bad till I compared it to another ( spot the difference)
I then used a bit of ptfe spray on the seals then fitted the welded EGR tips into the throttle body and secured them with the 2 T30 screws
Added the map sensor with a T25 screw and the stepper motor too with 4 T25 screws
I’ve still got to add the pipes to the system but works fine
Metal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

Thats too much effort. Fit the blanks from the exhaust and bolt the pipes over the blanks. When examining for the MOT it looks like the pipes are fitted because the examiner can't remove the engine cover to check.
