Running AFS headlamp units without AFS

I recently acquired some AFS headlamps, far cheaper than Xenon or BiXenon units. My plan is to not bother with the AFS but wire the corner lamps into full beam, just to give me that little bit extra.

My issues is, I'm not sure whether the AFS actuators are going to stay in the correct position without power. Obviously I can move the bulb housing by hand and get it in the correct position but will it stay there? There is also up and down movement.

I detest people who don't have their lights set up properly and will not be one of them.

I am wondering if I open the unit whether I can permanently fix the position however I'm not sure how I could fix the position in the correct position without the unit being on the vehicle.

One unit also seems loose. See video below.

Cheers

Well fit one side and see if it moves on ignition or light switch on.
Factory fitted ones do a dance. So it’s not looking good.

Corner lamps are not connected to AFS.
These are driven from the CJB. If a red wire is present on the cars connector, it can be enabled by gap iid

Cheers.

Didn't know that RE corners.

As expected, when plugged in nothing happens as I don't have the wiring/ECU.

I've discovered why one is wobbling, see pic below. Will probably sell and buy BiXenon. Looks like this is a none starter unfortunately.

Nothing happens ?

What dipped beam doesn’t work ?
Or no movement ?

Oh yeh beam works fine, high/low actuator all good. But no movement on the AFS systems.

Do the BiXenons (non AFS) have corner lights in the sidelights and do they actually make any difference?

Well that’s good isn’t it? So you can try and fix them in a
Sensible place and the motor won’t try and move it.

Yes corner lights are available with normal xenon.
I don’t have them myself. But I think when you indicate and are
Below 30 mph they come on to help you turn off the road

Yeh it's finding that sensible place that's gonna be the difficult part I think, not sure how I'd fix them and maintain it.

Initially I was hoping there would be enough resistance in the actuators to hold the units in place, a sort of fail safe.

Shame about the damage on one. Having a look at the AFS retrofit, it's not a huge job and the ECU and connector is only 30quid.
