Connecting GVIF to CAN

Hi, I have just installed a GVIF under the passenger seat next to the navi DVD unit and it works well. But I have not been able to work out how to hook it up to the CAN. The instructions are not particularly helpful as they do not suggest where to find the car CAN leads.

I have found the interface CAN leads on the power harness in the back of the GVIF and was hoping to find the car CAN leads (twisted pair of green + orange / green leads) going into the back of the navi DVD but no such luck. I note that a number of forum users have installed GVIFs and was wondering where they connected theirs into the car CAN.
Thanks,
MD.

Most people including myself have tried in the past connecting via the can bus and have reverted back, ISTR the failing when connected to the can bus you you can’t go back only forward and when you do the system virtually resets to the 4x4 screen, the micro switch works best, I positioned it to the right of the top row of switches just below the screen, do a search and all will be revealed, best not to touch the can bus Thumbs Up
The best mod I did was to fit a forward facing camera in the centre of the bumper, really miss it on the D4.

Have a read of the post below from hid4u who supply the GVIf,

Thanks for your prompt reply M3DPO.
Reading hid4u's post only confirms my desire to try the CAN connection.
So back to my original question: where did you find the car CAN leads you connected your GVIF to?
Thanks,
MD.

I connected it to the BIG connector on the sat nav drive.

The cover comes off, and you can then trace the wires to pin numbers.

I found I needed it connected to get functionality and it works well.
