EGR delete fault

good evening
can someone please help me I've got a 58 disco 3 that was remapped before i bought it
since then I've had the EGR valve's blanked & deleted from the ECU.
I've recently had an engine refurb & new turbo & new intercooler fitted but it goes into limp mode after a couple of minutes driving.
the garage that's trying to solve the problem for me has said that there's a few faults in the system 1 of which is an EGR fault they've checked the ECU to make sure the EGR has been deleted which it has.
i just don't understand how it can give a fault on something that's not there
has anyone else had a similar problem I'm at my wits end Big Cry Big Cry

Maybe if the egr is stuck open, the car can tell the exhaust flow/gas mix is incorrect?

I had the same problem after EGR delete, and it turned out to be the sensors which were to blame. They were still connected to the socket, all I had to do was unplug them and all has been well since. With the EGR sensors attached, I would get mass airflow fault and limp mode after a few minutes drive.
