Buy a hot air gun it works great.
Heat any old faded black plastic panels up with a hot air gun ( electric blown air not a flame) and they will turn back to the original black.
I would practice first somewhere were it dosent show as if you go to mad you can melt the panel.
As you heat it up you can see it turn black just keep the air gun moving as this happens

I used Hycote products for the scuttle plus both front and rear wiper arms on the RRS. I used adhesion promoter and bumper black. This was after speaking with Hycote's technical team and getting their recommendation.

Well after fighting with the wiper arms I finally got them off,
Now I won’t admit that after a while I realised the arms weren’t moving with the puller as the pushing part was too long therefore was acting line a clamp, put a small nut inside and wiper arms came off , so at least I can claim the idiot of the year award
Am wondering if I can use one the green scoring washing up pads to clean all the junk off the scuttle panel ready for primer
Already got some new wiper arms, old ones the springs don’t feel very strong at the moment
Also having the scuttle panel out I’m going to work out the route to install the heated windscreen washer jets loom retrofit that’s sitting in the shed
Thks so much once again for the link and heads up ref the hycote

Next job will be to find out why my spare wheel keeps going flat , it does look very pitted on the inside rim so don’t know if I’ll have to get another one or if I can carefully sand it down
Or if I have to send it away to be professionally dipped and powder coated

I was beginning to wonder how much crap you'd get up to if you weren't laid up with a bad back.

I didn't bother with a puller for the wiper arms. I just gave them a quick squirt of WD-40 then had a cuppa, came back and gave them a wiggle, a few knocks of the spindle with a hammer, then wiggle a bit more and off they came.
Concerning whether to scrape off the scuttle or not, I wouldn't. It's surprising how abrasive those pads are because they are embedded with steel fibres. I just gave them a good scrub with a scrubbing brush, warm water and some washing up liquid, then spray with adhesion promoter to stabilise the surface.
My recommendation is to only put on very light dust coats because it's like water and runs very easily. The paint is fine, you can spray it a little heavier.Kev

Good to see you're taking it easy mate!
Trouble is all I’ve managed to do so far it get the wiper arms off
Thinking of little jobs I can do sitting down, ie painting the scuttle panel, cleaning the wheel etc
It’s driving me insane and got to do something or I’ll go mad, will just see how hard it’s going to be to fit that heated jet loom
Bigger jobs I currently can’t manage I have a cunning plan

Hi
Unfortunately wasn’t that lucky, was a right sod getting the arms off
Thks and will do that with soapy water and brush
Paints should arrive by the end of the week, plus got some bungees etc so can hang the scuttle panel up to spray , plus with the warm weather shouldn’t take too long between coats
Thks again
