Disco 4 stolen - OY10UDO
We had a visit last night from a car jacking gang last night at 1:30am. They broke in to 3 D4s' parked outside our unit by smashing the drivers windows. I could see they were trying to start the cars, but each one has a broken engine, so no luck They weren't rummaging around looking for stuff. When they came to the 4th car, which was in for a service, the rear passenger door was open (central locking not working I guess). The car was parked in front of our shutters against the wall, but that didn't stop the skinny one from getting in. 2 minutes later he had the car started and off they went.
All the keys are locked away in a safe, so no chance of doing a relay job as they wouldn't get a signal. I don't know they did it, but they did. When they got in the car, the hazards started flashing because the alarm was going off. Even when they drove away, the alarm was still going off!!
Our unit is on a secure site with gates. But somebody left them open last night and I know who We have our own locked car park, but it's full
They were driving a silver Audi A3 Sportback reg: S50SVD

UPDATE:
The gates were not left open, they came an hour earlier and spent 2mins breaking the locks off!!
Good job they didn't get in to our car park. It is full of new shape RRS that are all running.
I don't know what they hope to get for a 9yr old D4 with 150k on the clock.Joe

What a bunch of b ds . Let's hope they get caught and brought to justice.
Perhaps it was nicked with the intention of committing further crimes with the vehicle instead of directly selling on.Kev

Broken for parts?
The rear door actuators on a D4 are an absolute pain - I had 3 go over the 9 years I had mine. Lock the car, keep key away from car, check doors became the standard routine every night - excellent LR keyless entry, very convenient.
-Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

The maximum sentence for first timers who do not use violence is 2 weeks imprisonment this is regardless of the value of the vehicle, small price to pay when it may well have taken the owner a lifetime to save up for it.
Is there any wonder they get stolen?- it even makes me tempted It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I suspect a lot of these end up abroad. The worlds extreme countries must be running out of defenders.

The basic Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol, Isuzus are the vehicle of choice for most insurgents and warlord armies

My guess is OBD to program a new key like they do with Ford and BMW. Loads of Land Rovers and Discos, going from that area of Birmingham at the minute. Although to be fair, its rife all over.
Disklok is the only way to put them off as a visible deterrent. A mate has the GHOST system which is fantastic but doesn't advertise the fact its fitted, which still leaves you with a busted window.
They get used in atm jobs or ram raids, but not much else. Most probably spares or abroad as previously suggested.

Yes, you do need a good flat bed to mount your rocket launcher or heavy machine gun. Still no match for a Paveway or Air to Surface and armour missile.
