No 3.5mm socket in Disco 3

Sorry for probably re-raising this, but my 2008 Disco 3 has no 3.5mm socket. This means I can't use the AUX feature for audio streaming, or also for bluetooth phone hands free. Any advice on best way to get a 3.5mm socket installed? Cheers

Hi John, there are a couple of options depending on how handy you are with a soldering iron.
There is a small plug on the back of the stereo that carries the aux line down to the passenger footwell that you can tap into and add a 3.5mm socket available from Jaycar.
Or for about $100 Aerpro do a patch lead that has a pair of RCA sockets attached, just be aware that most people have issues with the sound being quite low.
I did use a cheap $3 bt adapter on mine that worked ok but now have an android 7" touch screen that does everything.
What spec is your car and what stereo do you have ?

Just to confirm that you have looked in the rear of the centre console under the air vent outlets and under the cover that is there - next to the 12v socket. It is between the vents and the little cubby which is above the pull out cup holder

I appreciate that some D3s do not have this fitted but I would say that almost half who say they do not have it then find it under the cover.

If you do not have it then follow Lonerangie's advice. And I can re-affirm that when you do connect up an Aux line the volume on the device (iphone etc) will have to be at max and the volume well up on the car radio.

Good luck

Garry

Thanks Garry and Lonerangie. There is definitely no 3.5m soket in the centre console. Checked out console a few times - just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Frustratingly, the manual has it mentioned but it is not in the car.

I'm not one for soldering, and the RCA solution whilst a solution, is not ideal either.

I can now also see an inexpensive BT/FM Transmitter Handsfree as an option.

RCA - 3.5mm cables are easy to get, could always replace the head unit like i did.

A good radio installer could set you up with an aux input for not a lot of money on your radio surround - maybe insert a bluetooth receiver on the Aux input behind the radio.

Just checked my centre console 2009HSE,
and the 3.5mm socket is under the flap at rear of centre console, just below air-con vents.
Had it years and never knew it was there, lol
