"Air flow rate bank 1 or bank 2" Which sensor??

I'm still having problems with my 3.0 sdv6 in restricted performance mode. :?

I was almost fully convinced that it was a faulty throttle housing, throttle mechanism because the engine runs on when switched off and after some reading it seems that one of the purposes of the throttle on these modern diesel engines is to help with a smooth shut-down. After getting a bargain from Germany for a nearly new throttle body from Tornau Motoren it still has the same problems.

I'm getting a P0488 code with my carsoft reader but as I delve further into the readings, I'm getting different figures for 'air flow rate bank 1' and 'air flow rate bank 2' . From memory, one read 18g/s and the other 0g/s. Are the O2 sensors providing these readings?

Thanks in advance.

I will crack this!

Your code suggest the egr is detecting a fault. If your egr has an issue it will cause differences in the o2 sensors. I believe from memory bank 1is N/S and bank 2is O/S, might be wrong.

It's likely you have a sticky valve on the egr be worth looking for mechanical fault

Un plug one of the egr electronic plugs turn ignition to one then read the fault codes take a screen shot then clear and see what bank comes up with a different code. You then know what’s what
Metal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

Thanks guys. Is it possible to unstick the valve without removing it from the car and is it a pig of a job to remove it if necessary? I can find instructions for the 2.7 engine but not for the 3.0 which seems to have a different design. Cheers.

Solved!

Thanks for all the forum help. I've solved my restricted performance problem. I had the error code P0488 and the answer was to change the throttle body as I'd thought. However having done this I hadn't realised that I needed to programme the new throttle body to the vehicle! Who knew?

So, with my trusty £130 icarsoft code reader I managed to reprogramme the 'electronic throttle control', wipe the error code and hey presto - no limp mode! Who says you need to spend a fortune on the iid tool!

Thanks again for all advice given.
