Miles and kilometres readout on display?

I was convinced that my dealer was an idiot, so I changed dealers in Dec 07'. Since then my new dealer has botched up 2 simple tasks (seat base & door handles), so that they required 6 separate visits. The latest installment is a problem which appeared after they changed the seat base.

Get this.... Sad My intsrument readout in the message centre shows Miles on the Trip meter and Range to Empty together with litres/100km , however shows km on the trip meter in the display under the speedo. What the F???????

Still shows Litres /100km after pressing the "i" button.

The dealer attempted to fix by downloading new software version, however "it won't accept new upload" was the answer from the dealer so a new instrument pack YAC500037PVJ has to be ordered Shocked Shocked Shocked. All under warranty of course, however makes me think how fragile and the electronics really are. Perhaps The Large One may provide some advice if he's known this to have happened before, or is it something that the imported cars go through when more than 2.5 years away from home.. ie they get a little homesick and think about the mother land in miles per gallon... Smile

I am curious to know what an instrument pack will cost?
I am more curious to know if this can be fixed without replacing the instrument pack (more proof that my dealer is incompetent!)

Any advice on this gremlin is appreciated...

Cheers
Moby

If you go into the settings menu of that LCD display, you should be able to change from L/100KM to MPG from there?

Maverick,
There is NO settings menu in Aus spec vehicles unless you have the optional Hi-Ice entertainment system fitted (I think).

Maverick,

Peter is correct, the base radio models do not allow user setting changes, however in this case the dealer couldn't change it either.

I'd love to know what it takes to change the Instrument Pack and how much it costs. It also appears from my quick search on this forum that only 2 other Aussies members have suffered the same fate.

I suffered the same problem. After getting the stealers to activate speed locks on my doors, the Imperial readouts appeared. It seems a change of related instrument hardware is the only fix.

Off Topic

Neil, 8 degrees was when I got to the office, the day started at 5 degrees and heaps of fog. that's why we go north to QLD for our holidays...

Thumbs Up

Back to topic...
The instrument pack is giving me the s_hits... Are we expected to wear such a cost if it breaks down out of waranty??

How many people have reported this so far, I count 2... + myself, so perhaps a rather small % in the general scheme of things... Question
