PPI Deadline has passed ... now what ?

Whilst i'd like to think this will cut down on the Censored cold calls, i suspect it's just going to a case of the calls shifting to some other 'ambulance chasing' carp.

Should we have a sweepstake on what it's going to be ?

If I were to point to some areas where I know there's some disquiet, they would be

1) Pension transfers - already happening, but there's not been the noise I might expect
2) Automotive Retail Finance, particularly PCP and the potential disparity between initial deposit and actual equity at the end of the finance period
3) GAP Insurance and Warranty Commission disclosure
4) Mobile phone contracts and the hidden finance element (the phone contract as in all but name a loan to buy the phone with the cost of loan repayment mixed in with the cost of providing services, but no financial services legislation is applied).

Do I think there's be any regulatory action on any of the above? From what I've seen of the FCA I'm not expecting them to take action. They don't seem to have the appetite or capacity to take these on.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The mis selling of mortgages and cancellation charges if you pay it off.

I recall SWMBO had a mortgage with the Bank of Scotland on her property when she moved in with me, she got stung for £3,000 to redeem it despite the fact I told them I was quite prepared to take out a mortgage with them to negate this. Evil or Very Mad

I’ve just gone through the Wayleaves one and done very nicely out of it Very Happy
Would never have crossed my mind to look into it if I hadn’t had the letter drop through the door.

Another one is council tax. My dad had a chap tell him he thinks his in the wrong band and that he would contest it on his behalf. The guy was a no win no fee type of arrangement so my parents went ahead and got several years back pay and cheaper tax going forward.

It’s not all bad news Laughing

Every time I see one of those adverts I think exactly the same - just a matter of time.
I’m guessing the boom in home ownership about 30 years ago courtesy of Maggie’s selling of Council Housing has helped what appears to be a bit of a smelly business.

Mis-sold Solar Panel benefits.
Not returning the financial return that was promised.
Barclays lay aside £38m to deal with potential claims.

I saw that too. My flabber was well and truly gasted to read this:

Quote:
Robert Skillen, who was the director of the firm when Mr Thompson bought his system, said Mr Thompson's panels would make him money.
Mr Skillen is now in business claiming to help people who have been missold solar panels. He did not want to be interviewed.

So he ran a company that allegedly missold solar, and now is making more money by "helping" the people his company targeted. Hmmmm Rolling Eyes
