My recent acquisition appears to be without long roof rails and a very quick look last night gave me the view that there are locating ‘lugs’ rather than holes. I will photo later and post.D3 2.7 Zermatt silver (not another one)

when you fit the long (extended) roof rails you have to drill a hole (20/25mm - a decent size) in the black trim that runs forward from the short rails to the windscreen, so if you removed the long rails the easiest way to "get rid of the hole" would be fit some new short roof trims.

what rack are putting on instead?
im planning on putting extended rails and roof bars on in the new year so i can fit a side awning on, but im toying with the idea of an awning each side, one with sides/door panels so its sleep one side, chill out other side, and admin etc out the back on the tailgate,

Looks like you haven't removed the hole plug.

Narpy - the Adriatic Blue is recently acquired, this week by my son I was more concerned at looking for dings in and around then looked at roof, there is loads of other stuff to do as well.
The front rail and damage is my Tonga Green D3 (only one photo) happens to pop up now and then so that with damage repair is also on the list....... it never ends
I see now that it is hard to see that there are two different D3’sD3 2.7 Zermatt silver (not another one)

nice looking rack
what i like about it is that its quite flush to the roofline, i cant stand these ones that sit several inches higher than the roof.
