Im not a Defender expert but I always get dubious when I see checker plate on the doors, as everyone I know with one puts the plate on when the doors start to go.MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0

As usual, check chassis, especially the rear cross member, front dumb irons behind the front bumper. If there are any repairs already done, make sure they are good.
Check bulkhead for corrosion.
Check bottom of door frames.
At that price expect a few issues. Nothing serious though.

That has been standing for a long time, well over a year, mine has exactly the same alloy corrosion and stains on the paint from standing.
Rear x member externally looks sound like it can be saved with just some effort and treatment.
Mot history would be well worth looking at.

Just wondering if its still down on the V5C as an M2 due to originally 12 seats , does it impact on driving license requirements ?

I would say it’s towards the top of its money without a galvy chassis. If the chassis and bulkhead are absolutely solid then maybe Ok, with any rot I would want it for less. When I rechassied my 90 about 5 years ago, chassis were £1200, now they are well over £2100 plus whatever else you would end up doing, so take that into account if there is any rot. Also stick your finger into the chassis, see if it has a layer of muck in the bottom rotting it away nicely.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Bit in the high side if you ask me... 110 that I had of a similar age needed chassis welding in various places, new sump pan, steering arms, and had the beginnings of rot on the bulkhead and A pillars.... it had had a new rear subframe so at least that bit was solid
Lift any mats if any in there and look for damp... as they leak like nothing else...
Fun car though and you don’t need to worry about anyone keying it
I sold mine for £4500 (and still made a little bit)...I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Went to see it today, garage closed but was able to give a good look over with SWMBO
Bit too much rust bits for SWMBO and even me around bulkhead, bottom of doors and especially rear door - so given the price it's a no
While there caught Jo looking at a 04 4.4 V8 lpg FF Did really look nice though, may pop down next saturday Iggy/Ieuan

I’m after something like this for some summer fun. It’s been on the cards for a few years but always swayed by shiny metal. It’s finding a decent one at a decent price though.

I realize having a defender or a LR product is kind of like a contagious disease but wouldn’t it be more cost effective to get a two-door soft-top Jeep Wrangler that’s got roll bars and is ready for massive tires

To each their own I suppose
Had access to a Jeep in my teens, a long long time ago in a galaxy far, far away and it was a great ride in a warmer climate. 8)
