Alternative Parcel Shelf
I have recently bought a D3, which unfortunately didnt come with a parcel shelf. Inspired by the shelf that I had in a 307 estate, which was made up of ridgid slats with a cloth cover, I decided to make my own. The beauty of this sort of shelf is that you can put stuff on it.
I am using my D3 for work and it is really useful to be able to put the step ladders on there.
So here is my home made parcel shelf:
Starting with the timber slats:
Test the ladder
A lick of black paint:
Then start covering one side with anthracite cloth:
Test in situ before finishing putting together
Finished
Weight test
Stress test
There are some things that I would do different, but overall it has worked OK and will certainly do for now.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

Thanks Kev. All in its cost me about £25-30, much less than a OEM one and I can fully load it with tools, ladders, kids etc. Just in the process of getting a dog guard / net to stop anything making its way into the back seats.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey
