I am off for a pint or two on Saturday. The last time I visited this otherwise excellent establishment, the 'more 'mature' elements* in the lounge bar had put a lot of money in the jukebox and were singing along to the music, out of tune, loudly and generally badly. All the classics: Sweet Caroline, Bohemian rhapsody, Crocodile Rock, etc.,
A 'guerilla raid' on the jukebox added lots of thrash metal to the playlist but caused not a jot of respite. They were happy and enjoying themselves but it got very tiresome in the public bar after half an hour or so.
So, the challenge: what suggestions have you for music that will stop people having a good time - I mean stop them singing along in an antisocial way? The jukebox is an internet one, so the sky is the limit. Pulling out the plug or other forms of sabotage aren't an option, nor is going to a different pub - it has taken me eleven years not to get started at so I'm not starting again!
FWIW, the jukebox is in direct contradiction of the rest of the pub, which is an otherwise food-free, beer Mecca (if that isn't an oxymoron).

In a pub in Scotland a couple of weeks ago, a chap (who was friendly drunk) asked me what I wanted on the jukebox. Kept asking. I suggested Willie Nelson (which I do actually like). Surprised to find over 500 tracks on the system.
I was the only one singing along... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

As I enjoy all types of music, if it was me I'd be finding some good classical stuff to enjoy, they'll struggle to sing along to something that doesn't have any lyrics.
Something stirring like the ride of the valkyries is well known enough to find easily.
Failing that at the other end of the scale some good old fashioned Thrash Metal like pop will eat itself, or
little known 80's Punk like Killing Joke.
Nasher. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Perhaps try "Part of the union" by The Strawbs ? couldn't possibly provoke a brexit-related riot to enliven your evening ?

Always did the trick for us back in the days when we were deejaying. Last song, goodby folks, we need to clean up the mess.

Booker T and the MGs - it's good stuff but there are no lyrics
Try stuff that's slow and quiet and by a woman singer, for example:
Eva Cassidy (Over the Rainbow etc)
Norah Jones (Come away with me etc)
Or at the opposite extreme something by Motorhead, say, that's difficult to sing along to. So not Ace of Spades
Do let us know how it goes
