I am not into railway modelling but those committing such wanton damage do need a good thrashing
Brendan
Me neither ... a mate tried to get me interested when i was ~ 17 (lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago) ... but some of the guys who do this stuff put their lifetimes into it.

That just goes beyond words, it wasn't just wanton vandalism that was just pointless systemic destruction.
No doubt they need help and will get a slap on the wrist and told to attend counselling for a month or two.

its not about the money though here is it - its the time these guys have taken to hand build some of this stuff, as was said in the article, some as long as 25 years work, that cant be redone.
Some sort of public example needs to be set for the idiots that have wrecked this work.

Thrashing does little to reflect the crime and punishments should be proportional.
A more proportional punishment would be incarceration in a cell built to the exact scale of the damaged exhibits.

Misread that as incineration....
Mind you
That would save the mop!If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

Rod Stewart donated £10k and called on some of his music industry mates to do the same. Apparently his own layout took 23 years to build.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I’m a model maker and build predominantly Aircraft or Helicopters. I’ve just finished a commission build 1/48 scale Bell 212 as a leaving present for somebody at Middle Wallop - it took me 4 months. Now I can get back to my 1/32 Tornado from 1978 period which is current at 10 months work. I feel for these guys, you put so much time into it, but for mindless destruction is worse than dropping it . I’d choose waterboarding with some MEK that would sort it, then 10 mins with the parents - I’m pretty handy with a scalpel
Although it’s not new news. I put a few on display for a WWII history project in 1979 at my primary school, that got broken into and all of them got destroyed.
Steve.

I build and collect, happy amateur at best, and nowhere near the level that some guys build at. I'm a member on a couple of FB pages and some of the work the guys put up is simply stunning and takes months to complete to the standard, so to see it all smashed up must be heart-breaking.Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
