Glove box USB

Would anyone have a wiring diagram of the 2014 to 16 audio/entertainment system? And does the 14 to 16MY have the USB in the at rest or did the glove box connector replace it?

Also, what does the second USB in the glove box do? Is it for phone mirroring or similar?

I think you can guess what I want to do.

The one in the cubby box has discontinued and replaced with two in the glove box.
I know that only one of them can be used to update the Sat Nav but both can be used to link the phone etc, on mine anyway.
Also the bottom iirc can only be used with the “incontrol apps” which are not anything great.

Thanks for that, I wondered if the cubby box lid usb was discontinued but couldn’t confirm it as the EPC shows it from VIN AA through to the end of production.

Well obviously they both provide USB power as I have my dash cam temporary plugged into one but it would seem that only one of mine will work as the aux input for music and films and updating the sat nav etc so I took it that the other is just a power socket?

Incidently does anyone know off the top of their heads what format the disco prefers films to be in as I have some that do not even show and others that play the titles then give in when they are on USB?

I’ve been reading this from JLR for the 2016 but as you will see if you read it, it’s probably Censored and just a cut and paste of the 2012 version with some minor effort to update. It talks about the cubby box USB! It mentions file types to use for USB storage devices.

When it comes to USB, file formats or for that matter anything computer like, I'm a retard!

On a tangent, does your Disco keep the radio going after the engine has been turned off but turns off when the door opens?

I ask as the fuse box behind the glove box is called the Module-Control-Quiescent-Current. I didn't have a clue what Quiescent meant so I google it and it means dormant or inactive. I can only guess that it means it keeps the audio etc going with ignition off or something like that.

As far as I know the power only remains active for a few minutes then switches off but dont think i have ever remained inside long enough to see if it stays on longer.

Hi guys,

I am looking for the solution to add in my 2014 D4 the usb interface socket on the console armrest lid.
I already bought all things needed (lid, cubby box, interface socket double USB with wire) but surprise I have not the corresponding wire in the center console from the portable interface.
I need help because I have the socket with AUX and USB in the glove box but I did not found the portable interface media (to be sure I can connect the socket and maybe to be sure before to purchase the corresponding wire).

I found on the different diagram that I should have in standby the wire with connector C2774 (connector C3385 connected to the portable interface).

The problem you have is that it’s one of the other. The wire from your glovebox USB connects into the FCDIM or screen in non LR speak. This same connector was used for the cubby box USB on the pre-2014 vehicles. You won’t have any USB wiring to the cubby box as it was never an option. It’s one or the other. What I wanted to try but never got around to trying, was using a USB hub to interface both the glovebox USB panel and the cubby box. I’m no USB expert and don’t know if it is possible but I think I recall a document which states that the FCDIM doesn’t support multiple USB ports.

So if you want to give it a try, you need a way to connect both cables to the one port on the screen and see if it will work.

Sorry, not the FCDIM, it’s the IAM or CD player.

Grey connector in the centre.
