History of screws

I found this video rather interesting - a bit of history about screws and screwdrivers. I'm sure there are some on here with a mechanical bent who might likewise find it interesting. Thumbs Up

"When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die! You don't know who's children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning: SIT DOWN AND TALK!"

Thanks RR, an interesting video.

A pity he did not expand on the lead screw used on a lathe to make screws.

Strangely, I watched that only a couple of weeks ago. That's YouTube algorithms for you...

It is pretty amazing to think of the things made before nails and screws were readily available - and that are still standing/operate.

THG goes nicely with Mark Felton's videos.

Not to hijack the thread, I stumbled on this video about a 100 T Armstrong Gun in Malta. An interesting machine. We used to test it once a year and send a copy of the results to the Italians and French to deter them from invading.
