7 years 113000 miles in...

7th birthday for my D4, 113000 miles.

Today I had the local independent specialist Landranger services in Stockport replace the timing belts and give it an oil service. Took them a day and a bit, and charged £750. Both front and rear belts replaced, oil and filter.

Here’s to the next 7!!

By rear do you mean fuel pump belt?- what about the pensioners. Good price, mine will be ready soon and they are not to far away.

Jaaag is purring like a pussycat! Yes had it 5 years now. 34k on the clock.

Did the rear brakes myself and changed the rear diff oil. Apart from that it’s only needed a set of tyres and normal servicing. It’s still on it’s original front brakes. They are huge so probably don’t have to work hard in day to day driving.

Rear diffs seem to be a concern on the rear wheel drive F Types, they are mechanical limited slip on the V6 and only hold a small amount of oil, which JLR say is a 4 year replacement schedule, but in practice it’s had enough at 20k miles, which to many is no where near 4 years. Mine came out like black treacle and the diff was thumping quite badly. It’s ok with fresh oil though.

Can’t beat a small Japanese Hatch - Toyota Aygo bought for daughter then handed down to son stood on the drive for 9 months, never touched. Got in it, cleaned the leaf mould off the windows, started first time and passed MOT next day with no advisories. Now cleaned, serviced and runs like a Swiss watch.
Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
Ex D3 and D4
