Best 7” tablet for install |
|
Hi All,
Can anyone reccomend a good 7” tablet for an install in to a D4. I have most of the bits, surrounds etc and have a really good Nexus 7 gen 2 tablet but I think it’s just a bit too long. So can anyone suggest a good tablet that can be rooted to allow me to run Tasker etc. And obvs it will need GPS built in for sat nav etc.
Apps I want to run will be Amazon Music and Video, Google maps, and another navigation app, Car Launcher Pro and a wireless rear camera app. So don’t think memory needs to be huge.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers

I can recommend NOT buying a lenovo Tab4 8 plus. It does fit and looks nice but it can only use the charging port for one thing at a time and it doesn't work with USB hubs either.

This is something I am toying with doing. Are you going to replace the head unit or just the sat nav screen? Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

I’m going to just replace the screen and run the sound through the auxiliary input to the existing head unit. Otherwise you need to start buying some serious gear like amps and joycons etc! I only really need something simple as don’t need usb hubs etc. Just GPS and the ability to be rooted but I’m finding it hard to determine which units do it don’t!

I have a phone connected through Bluetooth unit at the moment and I am not impressed, there is a massive difference in volume between radio and audio (Aux).
I have a 10" tablet sat in front of the sat nav at the moment for use of Google maps, and it works well in that its held in place with some vecro and doesn't move. But I want to be able to run the phone through it as well as the tablet, so I am thinking I will have to get rid of the head unit. I have a Pioneer head unit that I can install (https://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-stereos/pioneer-mvh-a210bt.-213070.html). That way can connect the tablet through AUX and the phone through Bluetooth.
I am thinking of getting this lead to bypass the existing amp:

Maybe fit a new amp inline using this lead if it works OK as I would maybe like to put a sub in the boot as well. Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

It will be a WiFi rear view camera that just needs an app to view. Many available on amazon or eBay etc.

Hi, have you used one before? From what I can see you have to connect to the camera wifi to use it. I may be wrong though. Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey
