Afternoon can anyone tell me is there a way to take a live feed from the mode switch on the steering wheel. Bit of background I work as a on call medic and use my discovery for work it is fitted with lights and sirens and I want to be able to use the mode switch to change the siren tone but I need a 12v pos feed to do this. At the moment the air horn is activated by the horn button but I would like another button on the steering wheel to use to stop start and change siren tone from the steering wheel and the button I was thinking I use least is the mode one

The buttons on the steering wheel work on a resistive network rather than simple on/off principle.
Any additional load anywhere may upset the signal to the head unit etc.
Nasher Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

You could remove the button illumination facility.
Use that red? Wire
Disconnect mode switch
Connect it to the red wire to mode switch
Connect other mode switch to ground
Use a relay in the car to swap ground to positive
It’s a lot of fuss, which s likely to result in breaking something

Would it be possible to use the phone button or the voice control button as a alternative
