Puddle lights have stopped working...
I just noticed this evening that both the left and right under mirror LED puddle lights have stopped working. They usually come on when the car is unlocked.
Anyone any idea?

Do you have filament bulbs to bung in and see if work then?

No, these are the small LEDs that are integral with the mirror, just next to the camera. No idea how to get to them.
I'm a bit concerned that I might have accidentally turned the function off with my IId. I'm just asking in case anyone knows if there is a specific setting for them.
I did a gearbox oil change the other day, and was looking at a couple of errors, and fault codes.
I'm sure the fact that both have stopped simultaneously is a clue.

Unless you've been fiddling with the CCF shouldn't be an issue. Are these on their own fuse?

Are your interior lights set to auto ( as in you haven't turned them off )?G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Yes the interior lights are on auto. I did switch them to off a couple of weeks ago whilst on a caravan site, but just been out and checked.
All interior lights are working as they should, as are the under door lights. Like I say, only work on the car recently has been a gearbox oil change, which involved removing the under tray. Can't see that interfering.
Going to check the fuse list now, but can't see them being on their own fuse.
Oh the mirrors fold and unfold on lock/ unlock too, so really is a bit of a mystery at the moment!

Do they come out easily? Try one off the car??

Mine stopped working also on my last D4, I tried a lot of things to get them back but ended up selling the car before I could get them to work again Cheers Ian

I'm sure there is a way to get to the led. However, I feel the problem lies elsewhere as both sides have stopped at the same time. They were definitely working a couple of weeks ago, as I was away in the caravan, and remember seeing them, which prompted me to disable the interior lights, to keep the battery from discharging whilst the dogs were in the back, with the tailgates open.
So I had returned the interior lights to auto when we left the caravan site. Since then, not really used the car much, until I changed the gearbox oil. Then I was using the IId tool to monitor temperatures, and also read the faults whilst I was at it.
Car came up with a few regular faults that I know about (front camera broken, socket relays removed and bridged) but it threw another one regarding the front remote controls, which I posted about, and turns out to be possibly a clock spring issue.
So there we have it, the last 3 weeks of history in my D4! This evening I'm going to plug it into the IId and check all the the settings.
Car not here now so can't check fuses, although I suspect they are not on their own fuse.

Still not got to the bottom if this. So far, I have made sure interior lights are on auto. Checked fuses, but to be honest there is no specific fuse for puddle lights listed. Interior lights are working fine, as are the lights in the bottoms of the doors. Power mirrors fold on lock, and unfold when unlocked, as they should.
Today, I hooked up a power supply and plugged in the IId. I'm still getting a Front remote switch error code, which I think refers to the clock spring, but that is working fine. There is also a camera related error due to a broken front camera. This has been there for a while, and the puddle lights have been working since that occurred.
I looked in the ccf files, and there is setting for mirror outer puddle lamps. This was set to enabled, but I tried disabling and re-enabling, but to no avail.
So still searching for an answer. Next step will be to buy a days subscription to Topix, and have a look at the wiring diagrams.
I have learnt that only cars with the surround camera system got fitted with the under mirror puddle lamps, so maybe there is a connection with the broken camera? Thing is they have worked since the camera got smashed.

Hey Gareth, i know this is an old thread, but did you manage to get this resolved. I happened to notice on my drivers side today i have the same under mirror lights, however the passenger side is not working.
I have looked through the fuse list and cant seem to locate an appropriate fuse, the folding mirror works ok. all very strange.

Swap the puddle lights over to test, they are handed so won’t be able to lock in place but the wiring connector is the same. If you have a Disco 4.5, the puddle lamps are sealed for life units and on the 3 and 4 they are replaceable bulbs.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

No I never solved it. It’s intermittent in as much as very occasionally they do come on when the car is unlocked! However it never lasts long as they soon stop.
I have noticed that if you look under the mirror as you unlock, the light flashes very briefly, but doesn’t stay on.
The lamp seems to be integral with the under mirror camera. I have not tried swapping, as neither work. They both give this brief flicker on unlocking however.

You must have a 2010 to 13 MY car. I suspect the BCM FET is shutting off the puddle lamps to protect the circuit but resetting after the BCM has slept. You could remove one to see if the other will work and the try the opposite.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)
