Roof racks? Or maybe trailer?

Hi all, probably an impossible question but I’m trying to work out if there is anything out there that can take four bikes on the roof or solutions to get all our camping gear and bikes on or in the car.
We currently have a tow bar mounted rack to take the tent and a roof box that leaves enough space for one bikew and a very full car for two weeks camping in France.
Been looking at front runner racks but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of info on the website.
Ideas welcome
I’m thinking a trailer might be better, show me what you’ve got please.

Can't help you with the roof mounted rack but be aware you'll pay quite a lot more on the toll routes with a roof load.. system charges by height and you'll be in the higher bracket. It's why most French tow instead of roof mount above a roof box.

Enjoy those holidays, I am sure you can't wait!

Hi, not too worried by the tolls, just trying to avoid towing anything. Looking forward to it we’ve missed the last two years.

Hi,

What is it you'd like to know about the FR rack? I would I.agine you'd get 4 bikes up there, certainly 2 adult and 2 children's. Going to Cornwall this year I had a long roof box on one side, camping wardrobes, camping kitchen, bbq on the other, then 2 crates at the back.
We had 2 dogs in the boot so couldn't get much in the boot, we had a little trailer for everything else, but without the dogs we could've gotten it all in the boot. We don't take bikes any more but could've gotten a bike rack on the back.
Any other help on the FR, let me know.

I'd also look at the Flatdog rack, it's essentially the same but cheaper.

I can get four bikes on my Expo rack with two pointing forward and two rearward. It requires two crossbars on top of the rack to support the bike carriers. There is a space below then that I use for bridging ladders.

Got this “Out Rack” from Land Rover Passion on order and being delivered this week.
It’s ultra slim and low profile (as it can be fitted without rails), but also has the order option of fitting with both short and long roof rails.

For years we have used the standard LR cross rails with 4 Thule bike carriers on. This was on D3 and several D4s. No real issues other than lifting onto the roof but I just used a small set of steps. Worked fine and travelled all over Europe.

I've got a 4 bike tow ball mounted carrier by Thule (at least i think it's Thule). Does the job well and carries the boys bikes which appear to be made of lead! Shocked

I thought it would be too much of a b@ll ache lifting bikes on and off of the roof of the disco. Saved that space for the roof box. Thumbs Up

Eventually we decided to go trailer and found this little beauty. Anssems hardtop trailer that can accommodate 4 bikes on top of it. Was a bit more than I wanted to spend but looks batter than most others.

One of the downside of towing the trailer is, towing speed limits. Whilst in the uk it’s 60 mph on the motorway and you are not allowed in the outside lane.
