Discovery 3 HSE no bluetooth/phone option

First post on here so be gentle.

My friend and I have just purchased a 2005 Discovery 3 HSE (High Line Head Unit and Harmon Kardon speakers).

We would like to know exactly what options are available for hands free bluetooth.

I know there a million different threads on it, and after reading so many, am still confused exactly what options are available for the type of car we have.

I know that as it is the 'high' line version, it uses the MOST system, so we cannot simply buy a double din replacement stereo without other systems then not working (as they route through the head unit)

It doesnt have buttons on the dash/steering wheel for a phone (So assume no bluetooth module is fitted). So not sure if you can fit a D3/D4 phone module into the existing system ?

So, is there anything that can be purchased that plugs into existing system for a 'clean' installation or is it easier/simple to just buy an aftermarket hand free kit (Parrot or similar).

Dont want to spend silly amounts of money, but a couple of hundred for the right system would be ok.

Any good simple advice appreciated.

Cheers !!

Fitting a D4 system is a good option. £130 ?

2 power cables and optical connection. I guess you need an expensive diagnostic tool gap iid to enable ?

Plus steering controls £50 if required

Or a parrot can be plugged into to small headunit connector.
Though this is a bit diy, fiddly, custom

Some more questions, just been down to the car and have found that the steering wheel has no green/red toggle switches for phone, so assume we would need a new steering wheel (if going for the d3/d4 module).

Also, when taking off the rear quarter panel there is no bluetooth module in there. Therefore, can you actually fit one ? (i.e. still wires availble to plumb/plug into)

I believe it can be used without red/green buttons, but that was what my £50 allowance was for. No need for new steering wheel.

You can fit a new switch pack

ppl fit the D4 BT in the front.
It needs an optical loop cable and power

Thanks for the info.

Assume when you say d4 module in the front, you mean just fitting it where you can so you can plumb in series with head unit ? (rather than in the rear quarter panel location)

I think the the d4 module and new switch is the best way to go.

Cheers for advice.

Yes that correct.

Don't know why people do this, probably easier to put it in the rear.
Take power from the TMC

Do you have a GAP IID to enable ?

I am assuming that I will need to get the CCF file updated to toggle the bluetooth on ?

I only have a icarsoft diagnostic tool and dont believe this is capable of updating CCF files.

So once it is all fitted (or before I suppose) will need it doing.

Not sure on who has a tool locally, or will have to go to indie or even LR to update ?

The disco is a great car and all the mechanics have now been sorted, so just adding some creature comforts.

Really apreciate your advice.
