380W/825W Meridian Surround System
Hello all
I’m looking at 2015/16 D4 HSE Lux and Landmarks.
15 to 66 plate, the spec, mileage, and condition are more important to me than having to have a 66 plate one
Following on from some other threads on here it appears some were fitted with the 380W Meridian Surround System instead of the 825W system.
Is there an easy way to tell the difference when inspecting a potential purchase?
A couple of non-franchised dealers I’ve asked before travelling to see a vehicle have said they don’t know how to tell the difference.
I thought it was as easy as looking at the badge on the front door speakers, but apparently not, they both have the ‘Surround’ text.
I don’t really want to miss out on a vehicle because somebody else buys it whilst I’m waiting to consult LR on a Monday morning.
Thanks

Both my 2016 Landmarks had the 825w systems and had speakers on the rearmost pillars. My previous MY15 HSE had the lesser system and didn’t have the rear pillar speakers.
So I’d say check the rearmost pillars for the large round speakers, one on each pillar.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

^^^^^^^^^^
what he said
the 380W systems dont have surround sound so dont come with the additional speakers
the 825W systems have dolby, meridian and 1 other type of surround sound you can choose from so have the extra speakers in the rearmost pillars
the sound quality difference between the 2 is phenomenal
this is the same as in Freelander 2's with differing sound systems2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Thanks guys, that's nice and easy.
I really enjoyed the sound quality of the Logic 7 system in my D3 HSE, and there is no way I want to go backwards with the sound quality.
Can you confirm if what I've been told is correct, in that both systems say 'Surround' under 'Meridian' on the front door speakers?
I thought the 380W system didn't and that was the way to tell them apart.
But I suppose just being covers LR could have just used whatever was in stock at the time.

Sorry, I can't remember even seeing the "surround" badge on either of my now departed Landmarks.
Obviously you want the more powerful system, but the lower spec. really wasn't noticeable different to the Logic 7 system I had in my 2006 D3 HSE. To my ears anyway. Both sound great IMO.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Not sure if Meridian on settings menu shows an higher output setup?
When I updated to Premium ICE (825W) I got this option

IIRC there are no options or badges anywhere to say if its 380 or 825, only the extra speakers and those options on the screen to differentiate2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

The D pillar indicator is no guarantee!!
It’s easy to fit D pillar speakers (as I have) but not upgrade the amp.

This appears to be a nightmare.
I looked at a 16 plate Landmark this morning that had the rear speakers and Meridian surround badges on the drivers door speaker covers, but no Meridian option in the menu.
I'd imagine that at the end of the run LR were fitting whatever parts were left in the warehouse.
Being a non franchised dealer the sales guy said they had no way to tell what was fitted and that I obviously knew more than they did anyway.
Is the Amp under the drivers seat where it was in my D3HSE?
Does anyone have images of both types of Amp in situ?
Is there a website I can subscribe to where I can check the build spec of a car by Reg No.?
Thanks

You can check the build sheet on TOPIx if you know the VIN.

Thanks BBDisco3.
It looks a bit small for an 825W amp, but it might be.
Can somebody confirm please.
I'll have a look on Ebay later and see if anyone is selling a used one with pictures.
Kajtzu, is TOPIx available to everyone?
I thought it was a subscription service for dealers.
Thanks

Yes and no. If you register you can lookup the build sheet against a VIN. Everything else is behind the paywall.
