Sorry about have to ask so soon but......

Okay I bought a Gap-iid and I've down loaded the new firm ware etc from my pc, got my activation code and unlock code.

Both my iPad and iPhone see the tool and connect to it and it sees the car i.e. vin number I can't go further. Can't put in the unlock code, there's no main menu and it keeps telling me to connect to wifi. Oh I have read the manual and it seems as though if I highlight the selected car something should happen on the screen. It doesn't, so truly baffled.

If it is correct that I should initially be connected to wifi it difficult because I'm miles away from it, thought it didn't need a connection to it.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thank you !

Have you just purchased the licence? I had issues with mine not working straight away even though i followed the guide to the letter, the next day it worked first time. I think there system needs time to update.

I have found Patrick very helpful but you do have to take into account the time difference.

Sorry not sure I know what ypu mean by purchasing a licence. I bought it from BAS and have followed directions as far aafield s I can see. I registered it, received the activation code and by email, received the unlock code and downloaded the latest software from Gap. The iPad and iPhone both have th latest app installed.
As I wrote my iPad and iPhone both see the tool via Bluetooth and the tool sees the car and recognises the vin code. I thought that at that point I would be able to highlight the tool as shown on the screen and then be able to input the unlock. But just highlighting the recognised car/tool on the screen brings up a message saying the pad or phone needs to be connected to the wifi. Thought that once the tool was in the socket and connected via Bluetooth I'd be able to input the unlock and go from there. But no....just baffled at the moment.
So any advice given would wonderful.
Thanks Graham

If you have a second hand one you need to buy a new owner licence, you dont need one as yours is new.
I would drop Patrick an email he is very helpful and will tell you exactly what you need to do.

No, brand new. Followed directions, as far as I can see correctly. Try once more tomorrow. Think I've got the car a little closer to a wifi signal for what's that worth. But thanks anyway.

I recall it downloads a number of files when you first connect to a vehicle so yes I think you need a data connection. Doesn't have to be WiFi, could be cellular, but I'm pretty certain it needs data.
