Discovery pre-emptive maintenance
Hi All,
I have a Disco 3 2005 2.7d 102k miles.
I have been reading and it seems my disco is one not affected by the oil pump recal for 2007-08 models. Hopefully that is correct.
So I was wondering what if any premptive maintenance I should do. The car gets an oil change every 6k. I've done the cam belts last year, the front wishbones as well. All the pads and disks are new and the diff oil was also done last year (3k miles ago).
Not that I'm paranoid, but, I was wondering if there's anything else I should do. It all works as it should do apart from the read passenger side door lock. I'll get around to that soon.
Any advice would be happily received.
Thanks

Hi,
My D3 TDV6 from 2005, had the oilpump Fitted with the weak roller mounting....
The oldest one’s seems also to breakdown sometimes...
Although it did not break until replacement.... I advice you not to take chances on this...
If it does brake later on after all.... its gonna be expensive!Best regards
Harold

As above
my new to me 2006 D3 had 45k on the clock when I bought it last year, first job was belts and pump and it still had the original swiss cheese pump fitted.
1 less thing to worry about after fitting

As has already been said above the early pumps do fail. With regard to preventative maintenance, if your car is an auto you might also consider changing the the transmission fluid and filter, or better still a complete flush!
Renewing the desiccant and filters in the suspension compressor. Transfer box fluid change. Check / renew the handbrake shoes / components. There is a brake bible by bodsey in the Wiki section of the site to help with this. If you haven't got a diagnostic tool a GAP IID bluetooth is a wise investment as it will allow you to make any relevant adjustments as well a diagnosing faults and clearing same.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hi,
Ok thanks for that, I'll look into getting the pump done, shame the dealer did not say that when they releaved me of £640 to get the belts done. Oh well.
