Independent warranty

My D4 is now out of warranty that came with the vehicle at time of purchase. Reading previous posts it looks like Warranty Direct is the favourite aftermarket. Is this still the case?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I went for WD too.

No idea what they will be like if I ever need to use them but they were the best of the bunch from my research.

Unlike WarrantyWise, Warranty Direct are insurance backed so you can progress to the ombudsman not Quinton's desk if there is a no pay-out or you feel their decision is unfair.

I also phoned a few garages and they said they had good results with WD.

WD+1
Approved my rear prop replace in an hour a week ago. Garage said they’d never had a warranty pay for it before. Just waiting for payment now but had a response the next day after I sent a copy of the invoice in. It also appears that garages don’t mind dealing with them, which can be half the battle.
My only other experience of dealing with them was that they didn’t pay for a sunroof drain fix but not surprised about that. Once again, they confirmed their position very quickly.
Their costs seem to be based very closely on mileage. I took a 3 year warranty as the original LR new car warranty expired. Ticked all boxes for models covered and agreed to pay excess of £50 which seeemed to be a sweet spot in the pricing.
They confirmed to me specifically that they cover the crank when I asked them.
Good luck. If you know someone with a WD warranty they can refer you and you both get a small financial reward.
Cheers
 Gary

WD + 1.

I got a wheel bearing replaced replace under warranty (wear and tear). I'd had the other side done a few weeks prior but hadn't claimed. I asked them about this and, although they hadn't authorised the repair ahead, they paid me the cost of the repair.

Just check the forum for discussions - you should get betterment removed and take out the best policy you can afford.

Just had my first WD claim settled after a week. It was approved within an hour.
When I took mine out 2 years ago (I did a 3 year warranty) there was no chance to haggle and the 'betterment' thing that some people talk about no longer existed.

The only thing that is a worry you can't claim within first 3 months so effectively you take out a 12 month policy but is only for 9 months. I understand why this is to stop anyone just buying a policy and then a day later expecting a large claim to be settled.

Isn’t there an option to have them inspect the car (at your cost) in order to provide immediate cover?
Might be wrong, perhaps if not covered under warranty they need to inspect it anyway.

I believe the WD cover can start immediately if its tacked straight onto the end of an existing one with no break. it was in the case of my Ford.
Two replacement diffs and a rear propshaft replaced with no issues on my D3 last year.
