Permanent Fuse Issue

Hi All!

I have searched high and low for this answer and had no luck, i hope someone can help here!

I have fitted some amber lighting for marshalling to my Disco 4 off its own fuse board and with a Woodway controller. I have a power wire run from the passenger fuse box to the boot and am currently running off the driver electric seat fuse with a tap. This works perfectly and is a permanent feed, however, the system i use turns off after a period of the engine being off and not being in use to prevent battery drain. Pressing a button should wake it up or starting the engine again however it doesn’t seem to do so.

I can only think this is because the voltage reduces when the engine is off possibly and the control system doesn’t notice a change when it comes back on again maybe so still thinks the engine is off?

Does this sound possible to anyone? Is there another permanent fuse i could try it with? Or any other suggestions? I want to be able to lock the car and leave lights going if needed so the cigar fuse isn’t useable for this as it turns off when the car is locked or after a period of time.

Any advise appreciated!

Search for dashcam wiring.
I had a live all the time on mine, but no longer have the car, so can't have a look for you.

I suspect one of three things is causing your problem,

1, The power draw of the lights is excessive when the engine is not running and draining the battery. Solution fit a dual battery system and run the lighting directly from that battery.

2, The cable you have run from the fuse box to the light controller is too small causing a volt drop. You need to check the voltage of the D4 battery (At the battery terminals), and the voltage at the light controller when the lights are running. If there is a large volt drop you need to increase the fuse box to light controller cable size.

3, Your battery is starting to fail. Get the battery load tested.
