Once upon a time it was fairly normal (on Daimler's at least) to have a sticker on interior components of the inspector who signed the quality standard off.
The Japanese do it with an OK sticker.
Some British manufacturers used to do it with the name of the inspector
Eleanor may have been the quality control inspector

The doorcards on my RRS have the production operator or QA inspectors names written in pen on little stickers on the inside.
As above, this may be the same.Kev

Agree. My experience of QA is the inspectors had their own personal stamp. Stickers are easily swapped, removed or forged.
But that was on stuff for the army and navy, so the bar was no doubt higher than for a cosmetic plastic piece..

Had a TVR a few years ago and the guy who assembled them became quite famous for "signing" his work. Sometimes he must have had a bad day as the the signatures were a bit adult themed (especially the David Beckham car )
Most TVRs of a certain era have a signature somewhere but no 2 are the same Previous Discos

When I was at University in the late 1980s, a friend used to occasionally spend a weekend helping to restore a Spitfire. They once found where someone had written "Gone for a cuppa, Bert" (or similar) on part of the structure: in a couple of places, the loops of the script had become holes - the graphite pencil had scored the surface of the aluminium alloy and, over forty years of flying, the stresses had opened them up until they went all the way through the metal - inconceivable consequence for the chap who needed a quick brew!

When I was a production manager 'on the line' you had your own name stamp with ID number also on it. Woe betide anybody who misplaced their stamp it was then used to sign off anything, anywhere, all around the site, especially anything to do with rework.
Many people had a 'spare' stamp with a wrong name on it........
Hmmm. A certain independent French aircraft maintenance organisation used to hand out two stamps so that a single engineer could sign off work that required a duplicate inspection (e.g., engines, flight controls). This only came to light when one bloke cross-threaded a bolt on a fuel-filter and signed it off twice: nine tonnes of aviation fuel was unwittingly sprayed over the South East and London en-route back to Heathrow. Claims for ruined washing, dying lawns, dead Koi, repainting of cars and many others followed. [Gallic shrug]
