Have you had a read of DiscoMikeys how to post about the handbrake and how to reset it by taking the cover off the module over the back axle?

It took me two days to do it working on the drive but cost nothing. The local Indy wanted to change the whole lot for the second time in the cars life. The bill for the first time was the push I needed to sort it myself the next time

England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

I am not willing to get underneath the Discovery Rolling with laughter Anything underneath is basically going to always be someone elses problem Laughing

Discovery was collected, as the MOT was re-instated, with my permission, the bodyshop drove it the 1 mile journey from my house. I had to quickly put the rear lights back in and get the blue tape off of it and as it turned out, the original wheels which were on the car for a few days after I got it, had gained stab marks in 1 tyre! So the tyre had gone down while it was parked up on my garden again.

But what is done is done, so now got the C-Max on my garden for some minor repairs to sell on.

This car really has grown on me. Having withdrawal symptoms from it being gone at the moment Shocked Laughing But on a positive note, I embarrassed myself with a broken down C-Max that has been causing trouble ever since my partner told me the battery terminal was done up properly. Well..... Nope, was loose, causing all sorts of grief, so at least got the C-Max to use. Was soo bored today that I restored the headlights on it Laughing But I am starting to get parts together and work out a plan for getting the Discovery exactly how I want it. Campervan is full of body panels, Trailer has got the bonnet in it, Paint from Buzzweld Craig arrived today, I am used to using spray cans, so got to learn what to do with what was sent.

This is the sort of stuff I get up to when I am bored Laughing

Really looking forward to getting back to working on my Discovery though. It is driving me insane looking at all the parts that I have got, and I have even been naughty and picked up a set of Discovery 4 rear light guards Whistle Laughing Even been eying up a Discovery 4 rear bumper on ebay that needs work Whistle Laughing

Today couldn't have gotten any worse. I swapped my C-Max for a Freelander that was supposed to have had a blown hub from wheel bearing failure, But has turned out to be IRD failure, while I was waiting for recovery, I had my Mum with me in her car so we could pop off to the loo if needed etc... And be damned if I rear ended someone in her car Shocked Luckily only a tiny dent in her bonnet and a cracket grill, and weirdly the car I hit stopped briefly, said, don't worry, my car is old, jumped back in and 11's it away from the scene Shocked So checked the reg of his car, no insurance Rolling with laughter Bet he was kicking himself as if he had been insured, he would have had the opportunity to claim whiplash Laughing

Anyway, back to the Freelander, it was meant to be a toy to play with, easy cheap enough fix ready for next weekend onwards, Looks like that won't be happening. The seller has said he is going to provide a used diff/IRD for the Freelander, will see if he does. But this has made me miss the Discovery more. I may have to run a box of biscuits up to the bodyshop Laughing

if you end up having to buy an IRD for it then no better to go than bell engineering and a guy called Austen.
Works out of massive shed fully equipped workshop and is the renowned expert via Freel2.com on all things FL1/FL2/Evoque and to a degree DS transmissions.

IRD =Intermediate Reduction Drive. A kind of transfer box but in the Freelander 1 the front and rear ran at slightly different ratio`s to make it drive more carlike and it ended up causing a lot of stress on the drivetrain as a result. A failed IRD means that it ends up as a front wheel drive only. Big Cry

Rolling with laughter Just logged on and saw all the questions and answers Rolling with laughter Luckily for me, previous owner is paying for a replacement IRD, and as it happens the VCU was also knackered of which had been rebuilt and is sat in the car awaiting to be fitted.

But the cars I now have are:

Range Rover L322 4.4 V8 (Owned for over 4 years)
Discovery 3 TDV6 S Auto (Seized Engine & In Storage)
Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual (Vandalised / Away Being Welded)
Freelander 1 TD4 ES Manual 3dr (Broken IRD).

Agila is my partners Christmas present.
Campervan although registered to me at the moment and insured by me, belongs to a friend and is hopefully going back to my friend in February / March 2021.

And I have 1 project trailer which I actually really don't have the motivation to do at the moment Laughing

So basically as things stand, my partner has the only usable car for minute, but my Range Rover will be back in use from tomorrow. And awaiting a call back from the bodyshop who are welding my Discovery.

This week the Range Rover is off to the coast to stay for a month or so. This is to clear the garden to allow me enough space to put my gazebo up with the sides on so I can paint the rear quarter panels on the Discovery when it comes back.

But tomorrow, the Discovery SE will be taxed again, and officially back on the road.

So far no more cars have been vandalised for now, but empty drinks cans have been thrown at the cars parked on the road.

I am starting to get my passion back for the green D3.

Once I have sorted the trailer, the garden will start to be dug out so gravel can be put down.

2 nights! I had the Freelander for 2 nights! Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored

Kirsty strikes again!

I am at breaking point now! Have been stopped twice from doing something stupid today when she was outside taunting me. I am really gutted as if my IRD hadn't failed, the car would have been parked safely on my garden!

So stepping things up now. Not heard about my Discovery yet, so going to visit with a box of biscuits shortly, should have my Range Rover out of harms way by Thursday, Freelander will be on the garden when not in use and the Discovery will also be on the garden when not in use.

May have to relocate the campervan as well if that starts getting targeted again.

What a terrible situation, I'm sorry the law doesn't seem to be able to protect you from her. Must be nigh on impossible to keep your cool in this situation. Evil or Very Mad
