instrument cluster
HI all
I have a faulty instrument cluster that I think I will have to change, question, with only limited use of the IID tool ( only had it a few months, still learning), how easy is it to set up a used cluster and are there any pit falls, I have a Disco 3 2008 with 129,000 on the clock, do I have to buy a cluster from that year or will any 2005 onward fit, a step by step walk through would be great, all help appreciated.Discovery 3 SE gone but not forgotten.

Hiya
I believe u need to get another instrument cluster that has a lower mileage than urs
Also saw this
Ok now you have the original Ipack back in, the first thing is to read the Ipack, this will create a backup file of the CCF in the Ipack.
Then swap the Ipacks over, turn the ignition on and make sure you have a power supply on the battery.
Then go in to the restore menu and select Ipack, let it restore from your backup to your new Ipack, then once finished then recycle the key a couple of times to make sure there are no errors.
Then do the odometer sync, then the vin learn, cycle the key and it should now be done and the car should start.
Ref cluster , assume it has to be after 2007, or maybe same year , but I’m afraid I’m not sure , other members will hopefully be along to confirm that 100% for u
Hope that helps

@gstuart glad you found my old post, saves me typing the whole procedure out again, I whish folk would just use the search function as thses sort of topics have been discussed many times in the past.

Thanks gstuart
I did do a search but obviously the wrong search criteria, given my lack of time spent on the gap tool I will be sending the cluster away for repair, again thank you gstuart for your help.Discovery 3 SE gone but not forgotten.

Hi
Ur so welcome and indeed ref the search I’ve found if u use capitals it can throw u off finding things , or using symbols can do the same
Must admit I would have really been stuck without the vast knowledge and help from here so always nice being able to pass on other people’s knowledge that I’ve also used
Glad it helped and indeed Plse let us know how u get on
Ps, if u get stuck there are tests u can do on the canbus , have them all written down so Plse let me know if u need them and will be happy to pass them on

Cluster removed Wednesday (easy job taking it out), sent away Thursday, arrived back to day, fitted tonight, all back to normal, with a lifetime warranty (i'm led to believe) great service, would highly recommend.Discovery 3 SE gone but not forgotten.
