Doesn’t look like much of a change externally. More likely gaining the new pivi pro software and mild hybrid, possibly PHEV option.

That's the best looking D5 I've seen in a while. They should sell that paint scheme, perhaps as part of a Stealth pack... Whistle Rolling with laughter

Don’t think there is a lot changing, heard they have done away with the pop up gear selector and will be like the new Defender

Gerry would kill himself before admitting the number plate is incorrectly positioned. He was blaming the dealers back when it was launched, remember?

I might be in the market if a PHEV or EV version was available and:-

They sort out the rear end, in particular :-

Widen so that a standard pallet can be loaded
Split the tailgate as in the earlier Discos

and, of less importance, but while you are at it - centralise the numberplate

I guess no chance of this, so no sale.

How many pallets do you shift, out of interest? Question

It is centralised, it’s just the rest of the car that’s not. Whistle Whistle

To paraphrase SWMBO, it still a minger. Shocked Shocked

How many pallets do I shift? Not a large number but when I do they are important including:-

Pallet load of ancient bricks collected from Somerset, loaded with fork lift.
MGA Engine from home (Hampshire) to Derbyshire, and a second trip to collect
Gearbox, bellhousing etc.. home from Bristol
Full load of champagne from France to UK for a friend's daughter's wedding, loaded & unloaded with fork lift.

I could hire or buy a trailer, but they are not so secure, and would have been a pain on the last pick-up as it was preceded by a touring holiday in France.

A standard pallet is IIRC 1200x1000mm so I would need a trailer with a bed quite a lot larger, hard-top, spare wheel etc.. When last I priced it up c. £1k. I'm also unsure how one lifts a laden pallet into & out of a trailer.

have you measured or got the tailgate opening measurements as a comparrison to the D4 as I think its wider than the D4, and the reason I say this is, that our caravan awing pole set in its bag was a really tight squeeze to put in the back of the D4 side to side, but goes into the D5 with a little (OK not much) space when put across the boot (in both cases at the very back, closest to the tailgate).

Its the height opening I miss, as on the D4 I have had a washing machine and a dishwasher upright in the back, but the D5 opening is just a fraction too low to allow this.

I like the offset number plate.

About the only thing I do like about it though, partly for the same reasons as NJSS.

I need to carry 'stuff'.

But am slowly coming to the conclusion that when I need to change my D4 I'll only have a choice of a D5 or the new Defender, and I think a used D5 will be much better value for money in 2yrs time than a used Defender.

Why dismiss the FFRR?

It’s not as versatile or practical as the D3/4 but if you don’t need the 7 seats, it’s a alternative to the D5.

Mine gets used the same as my Disco’s did.

Unfortunately the only reason, and I genuinely mean this, is that the rear seats in the FFRR don't fold completely flat.

Actually, I would have brought one instead of my D4 if not for the back seats.

I test drove a couple of really nice 2-3yr old TDV8s and was all set to go until I tried to put the rear seats flat in the last one I test drove.
I was very dissappointed.

You never know, they may well have centralised it, but mocked it up to look like the current offset version. Confused

Repair bills x 2 ? Whistle

Not that it's any more or less reliable, but cost of parts and labour is much more for an RR than for a LR.
