loss of brake fluid after flexi hose replacement

it was time to do the rear brakes so I did replace the rear flexi hoses on both sides. Unfortunately the right hose connector on the upper wishbone was leaking and all fluid was lost. Allmost all fluid except some in the right fluid container compartment.

I replenished the fluid today but I can pump and pump but no fluids comes out of the bleed screw rear right or anywhere. The fluid level even does not go down hinting towards fluid is going to the callipers.

What am I doing wrong in order to pump fluid thru the system?

As I understand it, in the event of total fluid loss you need a diag tool to get the fluid through the abs modulator?

after reading a view posts, yes. I have the IID tool and will give it a try. However don't I need to manually pump brake fluid into the system?

I am not familiar with the IID, but could it not pump using the ABS pump to bleed

fill the reservoir to the top with brake fluid then remove the bleed nipple go have some lunch and let gravity work its magic,also try to avoid pumping the pedal too much and using full pedal stroke as your likely to destroy the seals in the master cylinder

Clamp the other hoses off, just leaving the rear one open, then start the engine and pump the pedal, I have never had great success using the IID tool for bleeding brakes.

following eightfoot advice, fluid starts dripping from the rear bleed nipple. Great help Bow down

I guess I need to do each corner to refill the lines?

Once done, I can follow Flack's advice to bleed the ABS module? But engine needs to be running?

the saga continues....once all the rear wishbones, track rods, ARB bushes and brake lines were done I did a test drive.

brake pedal went down to the floor. Made it back home and saw the underbody fully sprayed with brake fluid. It is the left rear brake line behind the flexi hose being totally corroded.

8 years old and a Premium Brand? My wife who is French has a different understanding about car quality. She got used to hear her family saying "french cars are sh Censored t. Her only comments were that I should count myself lucky that it did not happen on the autobahn @ 90 mph.

It's a hate & love thing. The car resp. its components are of poor quality but it has some appeal a Mercedes ML does not have.

We'll see what comes next. Big Cry

same thing happened to me, pipe had corroded away to leave a tiny hole. I just replaced that part of the brake pipe.

how difficult is it to replace the steel pipe before the rear flexi hoses? I am reading to replace the pipe until the point where it is accessible under the front row seat position. But between there and flexi pipe in the rear this thing is a sidewinder.

I can imagine that the remanufactured hoses - seen on pics on the AF site - will not work unless you are lifting the body.

I am grateful for any advice how to successfully tackle the job.
