According to the LR dealer, my D3 was serviced 3,000 miles ago. This was done 4 months ago (by the previous owner). The dealer has confirmed the date and mileage when the service was done.
My worry is the quite black oil on the dipstick looks like its service was many more miles ago. I have no reason to doubt the dealer has changed the oil and was wondering whether the oil on the TDV6 gets dirty quite quickly.
Oil in my old TD5 used to stay quite clean on dipstick for 5/6k.
Am I worrying needlessly or should I pay for a flush and oilchange to be sure.
The car has done 63,000 miles and drives superbly.
Any thoughts from other TDV6 users?
Many thanks,

The oil is black in mine and it has only done 3000 miles from new. Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

The D2 had a centifugal oil filter which kept the oil cleaner so it would explain why the TD5s oil was kept cleaner. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks BarryG. Good point caverD3.
Presumably as the black particles are small enough to pass through the filter, they are too small to harm bearing surfaces.
