There’s quite a few on Autotrader for between £30-£32k with 23k miles upwards so I think the dealer is taking the proverbial (on both sides) ... like that’s unusual I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Someone’s got to pay for all their shiny dealerships & out of bounds coffee machines (there’s a pandemic on, don’t you know), and to keep the showrooms warm for all those unsold Defenders.
It’s not that they don’t know what the trade ins are worth, it’s just how they make that work with their hefty 6 - 8k margin. Plus would a D4 even make it onto the lot? They are so last generation and detract from the looks-only-a-mother-would-love of the D5.

They don't generally make it to the lot - pre pandemic a couple of dealers I talked to had waiting lists 20 people long for a low mileage approved used D4 - no waiting list for a secondhand D5 though strangely enough05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
12 RRS SDV6 HSE (Hers) - Gone and replaced with an I Pace - I can tell you now EV is not the future yet

about 3 weeks ago LR stealer offered 8200 maximum for mine, WBAC and 3 other indy dealers have been between 9500-10000
The LR sales muppet sounded quite pleased with his offer and said that was the market value across the board. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

When I was swapping my last D4 I was selling privately but in the end dealer had multiple customers interested and gave me well above trade and WBAC price. I had to do the handover of my new one 30mins before opening as they wanted to get mine in the workshop to prep as they had an event on - it was sold that day and I dread to think for how much.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

When i was looking in Sept , must if not all were being picked up some before people had seen them in the flesh !!
This was sub 50K miles 14-16 plates D4's .
I was surprised at how poor they were presented at most LR dealers , a lot had panel damage / dirty etc and it was always oh we will sort that after we agree the sale .
