Engine temp low
Hello guy’s,
I have a problem with my engine temp. My engine temp won’t come over 65-70 degrees at normal driving.
If I go downhill then the temp will fall immediately.
I have changed the cooler, thermostat, the oil temp sensor and the water temp sensor... the FBH is working...
The engine is chiped and the egr’s are blanked and deleted in the software. It’s a 2007 with the eu4 emission.
Does anyone know what the problem is or is it normal that the engine is running so cool?
Cheers and greetings from Austria!

Doesn't the dropping going down hill suggest there is air in the system? If it were due to engine working less hard I wouldn't expect an instant drop..

Could be that air pockets are in the system but I have done the bleeding twice... and at idle the engine won’t get temp that the thermostat opens like described in the workshop manual...

No what it means is as soon as engine off load the temp drops, and this is nearly always the stat.

Try a search as I can recall the eu4 motors have stats in the egr coolers and their failure causes issues somehow, cannot remember what exactly!

If it is an airlock you would have the opposite effect and the heater would blow cold, it’s got to be the thermostat not closing, use a infra red thermometer( they are none contact, you just point them) and check the actual temperature of the system.
Try unplugging the fan and see if that makes any difference.

Hi! Thx for the reply’s!
I have done everything you told me! With the fan on and off, have controlled the temp with a infrared thermometer... changed the sensors...
On the motorway the engine heats up to 80-82 and the oil to 100 but when it goes uphill or not on the motorway it cool down...
Think I’m gonna bleed it again...

If the outside temperature is below 5°C, is the auxillary FBH heater working ?
Should be smoke coming out the front wheel arch when its running
