Leaving the window open wont flatten the battery. I'd guess the battery was weak, and the cold has finished it.Richard

Using a dehumidifier usually indicates water inside the car. If this is so then water maybe in the sills so there are many wires to short in there so I would check that first. Give the battery a good charge up out of the vehicle. After charging, leave for 24 hrs and then measure voltage this will give an indication of how good the battery is.

I have just had to dry out the interior of my 2005 MY HSE due to leak in the A post finisher fixings. I ran the dehumidifier with the Power cable running via the base of the rear door shut line over the seals . So no need to leave the window open . But even so an open window should not put any extra drain on the battery. Was the car left locked?

Leaving the window open will allow air to blow in and set off the interior protection on the alarm.
I would also think the dehumidifier will do the same.

Plus 1 ^^^^ ,ref resolving ingress of water , battery condition etc
Plus Wonder if it would help by double pressing the alarm button to turn off the interior alarm sensors

If you unlock it and dont open a door it will relock after a short time.
and yes it still goes to sleep even if its not locked, i hardly ever lock mine if i leave it at work as its left in a secure yard with 24hr security even after 2 weeks it still starts fine

My D3 will lock itself if unlocked with fob and then door etc not opened, but if opened and just left, it doesn't lock. Its just to protect if you accidentally press the fob , without knowing, and it unlocks but with no further action it will relock after so many seconds.

thanks for all your replies . so a quick update the dehumidifier was running to dry the carpet after water getting in through the trim clips on the a pillar . i think i have now cured the water problem the interior id drying ok .the reason i asked about the window being open a bit when the battery went flat was could this keep some thing from shutting down and draining the battery ? . it now seems the battery is on its way out the car only gets used 2 or 3 times a week for short trips . i am also fitting a cteck plug to the car for easy charging if needed ( its my wifes car ) .2005 discovery 3 tdv6
